Marriage Counselling Experiences

What Couples Say About Marriage Counselling at LeapHope

Real experiences from couples and individuals who worked with LeapHope therapists through conflict, trust concerns, distance, parenting, intimacy and difficult marriage decisions.

Marriage After Relocation

After moving abroad we both changed, but in different ways. We were fighting about expectations and neither of us felt understood. I liked that our therapist didn't reduce everything to communication problems. We talked about culture, family expectations and how our individual lives had changed after moving.

Long-Distance Marriage

We have been together for 17 years, but long distance brought out a lot of jealousy and fear in me. Small things were turning into huge fights. Counselling helped me understand that a lot of my reactions were connected to fear of abandonment and old experiences, not only what my husband was doing in that moment.

Repeated Conflict

I knew I became defensive whenever my wife raised something, but I honestly didn't know how to stop doing it. I would either argue or completely avoid the conversation. Therapy helped me notice that pattern while it was happening and understand where some of it came from. My wife also finally had a place where she felt properly heard.

Marriage After Children

Things became much harder between us after our baby was born. We were tired, irritated and fighting over things that normally wouldn't matter so much. Our therapist helped us see how much of the conflict was coming from the pressure we were both under. We started talking more like partners again instead of blaming each other.

Infidelity

I cheated on my partner and I went to therapy because I wanted to understand why I did it. I didn't need someone to tell me cheating was wrong. I already knew that. The sessions helped me look at my behaviour much more honestly, including things about myself I had been avoiding. It was uncomfortable but useful.

Reconciliation

We were trying to come back together after being separated for almost five years. I had already worked through a lot of the past, but my husband was still carrying it. Therapy helped us talk about what still needed to be addressed without making every session about reliving old pain. That was exactly what we needed.

Major Marriage Decisions

My wife wanted a child and I didn't. We had already discussed it many times and every discussion ended in the same place. Counselling gave us a neutral space where neither of us had to convince the other person. We were able to talk about why we each felt so strongly about it.

Intimacy Problems

Most things in our marriage were actually good, but sex had been a problem for years and it was creating a lot of arguments. I thought there was some kind of mental block in me. Therapy helped me talk about intimacy without feeling judged or pressured to perform. That alone made it much easier to understand what was happening.

Marriage & Relationship Concerns

What UAE Couples Come to Marriage Counselling For

Couples often reach therapy after smaller pressures have been building for months or years. In the UAE, our marriage counsellors commonly work with concerns around communication, demanding work lives, trust, emotional connection, money and changing responsibilities.

Communication Breakdown & Repeated Conflict

The same arguments returning, defensiveness, anger, silent treatment, avoiding difficult conversations or feeling that nothing ever gets properly resolved.

Emotional Distance & Roommate Feeling

Living together but feeling disconnected, having little meaningful conversation, reduced affection or gradually feeling more like housemates than partners.

Work Pressure & Limited Couple Time

Demanding careers, different schedules, frequent travel, exhaustion and the relationship repeatedly coming second to work or professional responsibilities.

Marriage counselling can begin together or individually. If separation or reconciliation has already become part of the conversation, LeapHope also provides separation and divorce counselling .

Structured Marriage Therapy

How Online Marriage Counselling Works at LeapHope

Sessions are structured around understanding the marriage clearly, identifying the patterns keeping you stuck and working on meaningful change rather than repeating the same conversation each week.

01

Understand What Is Happening

Your therapist first understands the relationship history, current concerns, individual perspectives and what each partner wants from counselling.

02

Identify the Repeating Patterns

The work looks beyond the latest argument to understand recurring emotional, behavioural and relationship patterns affecting the marriage.

03

Begin Structured Therapy

Your therapist uses suitable evidence-based approaches such as Gottman-informed work, EFT, CBT or other couple and psychological therapy models.

04

Review What Is Changing

As counselling continues, the therapist reviews what is improving, what remains difficult and where the therapeutic work needs to go next.

The counselling process is adapted to the couple or individual rather than following the same fixed programme for every marriage.

Evidence-Based Marriage Therapy

Therapy Models Used in LeapHope Marriage Counselling
