What Parents Say About LeapHope’s Child Psychologists

Families seeking online child counselling in the Netherlands often contact LeapHope after noticing changes in school performance, behaviour or emotional wellbeing. These parents share how structured therapy and practical guidance helped them understand and support their children.

★★★★★

"Our daughter had always managed school well, so her sudden drop in grades worried us. She stopped completing assignments, avoided talking about school and became upset whenever we tried to help. Her psychologist looked beyond the marks and helped her talk about pressure, fear of failure and difficulties adjusting to the classroom. With regular sessions and clear guidance for us, she slowly regained her confidence and began participating in school again."

Parents of a 12-Year-Old Academic Stress & Sudden Grade Decline
★★★★★

"Our son’s tantrums had become intense and almost daily. Small requests could lead to shouting, throwing things or refusing to cooperate, and we felt that every response made the situation worse. The therapist helped us identify his triggers and understand what he was struggling to communicate through the behaviour. We learned how to respond more consistently, and he developed better ways to express frustration without having a complete meltdown."

Mother of an 8-Year-Old Tantrums, Anger & Behavioural Support
★★★★★

"After moving to the Netherlands, our teenager became unusually quiet and anxious. She spent more time alone, worried constantly about school and friendships, and often said she felt sad without knowing why. Her therapist gave her a private space to speak openly without feeling judged. Over time, she began sharing more with us, reconnecting with friends and using the coping strategies she learned whenever anxiety started building."

Culturally aware online child counselling for Indian and expat families in the Netherlands

Child Counselling That Respects Culture, Language and Family Life

A child’s behaviour can look different at home and at school. LeapHope psychologists consider family relationships, parenting expectations, school experiences and cultural identity before planning therapy.

Many Indian and South Asian children in the Netherlands communicate in English or Dutch outside the home while their families use Hindi or another Indian language. Our multilingual therapists help children express difficult feelings in the language they find most comfortable.

Parents remain an important part of the process. They receive practical guidance while the child is given an age-appropriate space to speak openly and build healthier emotional and behavioural skills.

Online Child Counselling in the Netherlands: Parent FAQs

Clear answers about Dutch youth care, huisarts referrals, insurance, professional registration, diagnoses, school reports, parental consent and online counselling boundaries.

No. LeapHope is an independent private online counselling platform and is not presented as a Dutch municipal youth-care or Jeugd-GGZ provider. Local Jeugd-GGZ services operate separately and may involve a municipality, huisarts, youth doctor or another authorised referral route.

No huisarts referral is required to book a private LeapHope session. Parents can review the available child psychologists and book directly. A referral may still be required if a family wants to access locally funded Jeugd-GGZ or another provider within the Dutch youth-care system.

LeapHope sessions are privately paid and are not billed through Dutch municipal youth care or presented as automatically covered by Dutch health insurance. Families should not assume reimbursement and should ask their insurer or municipality before booking if repayment is important to them.

LeapHope’s listed RCI-registered psychologists are registered in India, not automatically in the Dutch BIG Register. RCI registration and Dutch BIG registration are different professional systems. Parents can review each professional’s stated country of registration and qualifications on the therapist profiles.

LeapHope’s Netherlands service focuses on counselling, behavioural support and parent guidance. These sessions do not automatically include a formal diagnosis or educational assessment. Families requiring documentation for Dutch healthcare, school accommodations or public services should confirm the exact requirements with the requesting organisation and use a suitably recognised local assessment provider where necessary.

Acceptance cannot be guaranteed because every school and organisation may apply different requirements. Ask the school what professional registration, assessment format and documentation it requires before booking. A counselling summary is not the same as a formal Dutch educational or diagnostic assessment.

Consent requirements depend on the child’s age, legal guardianship and family circumstances. A parent or legal guardian completes the initial process, and additional consent may be requested when parents share legal authority or are separated. Parents should disclose relevant guardianship arrangements before the first session.

The psychologist explains parent involvement and privacy boundaries at the beginning. Parents may receive general progress updates, practical guidance and information relevant to the child’s wellbeing, while children and teenagers are given an age-appropriate space to speak openly. Privacy may be limited when there is a serious concern about safety.

This may be considered when it supports the child and the selected psychologist offers this service. Communication would require appropriate parent or guardian permission and agreement about what information can be shared. Families should discuss any school or healthcare coordination before booking.

LeapHope is not an emergency or crisis service. For urgent psychological help, contact your huisarts or the out-of-hours huisarts service. Call 112 when there is immediate danger. For concerns about suicide or self-harm, contact 113 Suicide Prevention through 113.nl or call 0800-0113.
